Designer Babies

Designer babies. Okay, this is different. I mean, I guess I can get the idea of "viewing" your child to make sure they have no diseases or hereditary disorders before they are born. But I don't know if it is right to change your child's genetics or features based on those things and what color hair they have or whatever the deal is.

Is this even fair? Is this not messing with nature at all? Is it right to allow higher beings such as ourselves mess with the genetics that are naturally occurring and shouldn't be aloud to be forced to change anyways? To me, this is wrong. It's not where we are supposed to belong. So what if we have the technology. So what if there is maybe enough money and time. Because when you get straight down to it, changing something, that should be, that naturally should occur, to something that should never even have been thought of, changing the complete work of what that child should have been to something the parent wanted it to be, to me is wrong.

Yeah sometimes children are born with hereditary diseases or get diabetes or whatever else that could occur, but that's something we can cope with. It's something we have always been able to just cope with. My cousin has down syndrome and because her mother is dedicated, because her family has worked as hard as possible to get her check ups and make sure she gets the things she needs, she is a normal four year old child. She is virtually a healthy, normal, kid without the lack of brain development or anything. This is what this is all about. We can cope with things like this instead of changing before they are born whether or not they have a certain disease or whether or not they have blue eyes and blond hair or not.

If you ask me, technology has gotten way ahead of itself when it comes to things like messing with hereditary genetics. This is wrong, and should not be aloud to proceed as more and more parents to be come along.
